What days does Professor Cuckow hold clinics?

Professor Cuckow holds an all day clinic on a Monday at The Portland Hospital for Women and Children.  In addition, he has an ad hoc Tuesday morning clinic in the private patient unit at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

What days does Professor Cuckow operate?

Professor Cuckow operates on Friday afternoon/evening.  In addition, he has an early Monday morning list once a month.

 

How long are the appointments?

Every patient is allocated a 30 minute appointment slot however Professor Cuckow will spend as much time as necessary, within reason, with both you and your child

What if my child needs other tests?

If your child needs additional tests these will be arranged once you have seen Professor Cuckow.

How long will my son/daughter be in hospital for?

Your child’s length of stay in hospital will depend on what procedure they have.  Professor Cuckow will discuss this with you in detail at the time of your appointment and his PA will be happy to answer any queries.

How long should my child starve for prior to surgery?

If you are exclusively breastfeeding your child you can give your child a feed up to four hours prior to surgery.  After this time your child can have clear fluids only, such as water, up to two hours prior to surgery.  After this time, your child can have nothing to eat or drink.

For all other children, including babies on formula milk, they can be fed up to six hours prior to surgery.  After this time your child can have clear fluids only, such as water, up to two hours prior to surgery.  After this time, your child can have nothing to eat or drink.

If you are unsure of what to do you must call the hospital and speak to the pre-admission nurse or call Professor Cuckow’s PA as the operation will not go ahead if instructions have not been followed.
