Hospital Stay

Whether it is the first time or not, any hospital stay can be cause for some anxiety. If there are other family members to consider it can even prove to be quite disruptive.

Professor Cuckow and the team of staff in the hospital and on the ward will help to put everyone at ease. As a parent, you can help by speaking with your child about their hospital stay, perhaps involve them in packing their bag and by keeping to established routines as much as is possible.

If your child has a comforter it may also be helpful to bring this along.

There is a large playroom in the hospital with play specialists available Monday to Friday

On Arrival

Please report to the main hospital reception on arrival.  A member of hospital staff will meet you and your child, escort you to your room and explain the rooms’ facilities.

Prior to going to theatre, both Professor Cuckow and his anaesthetist will meet you and your child to discuss the operation and obtain consent for the procedure

Parking

There are no parking facilities at the Portland Hospital.

 

There is an NCP nearby in Carbuton Street and metered parking on nearby streets.

Please note that the hospital in located within the Congestion Charge zone.
